November 9, 2009

Ok, so obviously my first two posts were rather optimistic and upbeat. Hell i'd say they were verging on inspirational. We all know like isn't like that everyday, if it were we'd all be better people and frankly my blog wouldn't be that interesting. After buying my iPod I have to remind myself to take them off and observe and listen a bit so that I continue to learn something valuable or just have a crappy story to tell all of you. So here is a crappy story. This guy gets on the bus, all full of swagger maybe late 20's early 30's with a walking cane with some sort of animal head, wife beater T on, and a camo hat. Now I'm not the fashion police but I tell you all the details to help flesh out the story in all fairness. Now he sits down across the aisle to me and starts to get involved in the conversation around him which happened to be on the topic of the ICP concert that was in town this past weekend. The lone girl in this group was talking about how hard she tried to get backstage but they just weren't letting that happen. Now at this point because these people obviously had no manners, couth, or sense of propriety they continue to tell this girl she should have been better at oral and maybe she'd have had a chance. Because she was outnumbered and obviously was used to being talked to like that she agreed (god only knows if she was joking) and then got off at the next stop. Now the remaining guys started to discuss how much it sucks to get drunk with girls because they never shut up and complain the whole time. Our original specimen with the cane interjects into the conversation to inform the younger guys that a drunk girl can only make noise if she isn't otherwise occupied and the best way to shut her up is to stick your d*** in her mouth. Now at this point I am mortified and furious at the same time but obviously not about to say anything since there are more of them then me. He goes on to talk about how he is going to jail in a few days for a year for driving for the 3rd time without a license. He is so excited about going to jail because he can save money and then get out, buy a car, and drive off anywhere he pleases.... once again without ever getting his license. And all the younger guys are just enthralled with him and everything he says. I feel like every bus should have a built in therapist.

On my way home and sitting towards the middle of the bus. On gets an older lady with a walker. She is struggling to fit her walker down the aisle and not a single person moved... no one lifted their legs, offered a seat in the front... nothing. I gestured for her to take my seat and lifted her walker up and over the legs of the unmoving people who even with me trying to get past their legs did nothing. I stood the rest of the ride home holding her walker from rolling. I was really struggling with keeping my mouth shut and lashing out at these inconsiderate people but before I could say anything she touched my hand and smiled and everything was just fine. :)

I was taking the bus today and complaining about my own life when a young boy about 15 or so sat next to me and was so animated talking to anyone that would listen how much he couldn't wait to grow up and be a photographer. I was mildly annoyed that I couldn't just enjoy a quiet ride when I noticed he had a walking stick. It soon became obvious that he was almost completely blind. When we got to the transfer station and he got off he asked the bus driver to stay for just a moment and he took a digital camera out of a draw string bag, held it right up against his eye and took a picture of the bus, smiled and started to walk away; him and his cane. If only we could all take so much joy in our lives.... *teary*
